Real Teins or just some dark green Racelands?

postby Dyldozer » 01/13/15 @ 16:32

Wanted to see everyone's opinion on these:

http://raceconsultingagency.com/tein/te ... 12850.aspx

Is there a reason why these Teins are so much cheaper here then anywhere else? I mean $519 is a big drop from $660 at say, Goodwin. Am I missing something, or should I expect a box of rocks to show up to my door instead of some cheap coilovers? lol. I have done some research and the website seems legit, but have any of you ever bought from these guys?

I'm just a dude looking for some cheap coilovers, and I tried to get some racelands but their Customer Service Rep explained to me, "please......don't". It's either get some Teins or build a ebay Billstein set up as of meow.

That is the type of feedback I was looking for guys! Thanks lol. What do you recommend? I am not buying my shocks or coilovers tomorrow by any means, but In the next month or two. I am not going to race or auto x, but I plan on doing a lot of "rough" driving. I have been looking up a good shock and spring combo, i.e Illuminas with FM springs. I have also been looking at coilovers like the Tein Basis or something like the FM Vmaxx. I don't necessarily need coilovers, but I want a very slight drop, and obviously a little performance gain. Have you guys ran lowering springs? I have heard lowering springs are shit and will last around a year, and I am looking for a little more longevity lol.

I had vmaxx and liked them on my NB, I moved to BC on my NA and would for sure go down that route again and again and again. Lots like the new Megans and they are cheap. Koni and GC combi is popular and lots like revalved bilsteins too. Swift do neat springs. Had a ride on bc/swift combo and it was better then my set up.

Keep in mind if you go lower end or coil and strut you'll need to find top hats and all that jazz too.

Thanks Skinny, you are a gentleman and a scholar. In regards to the tophats, etc. yeah that shit adds up really quick. I am keeping an open mind as far as pricing goes. I don't plan on cheaping out, and I can see the value in going for something that is only 200-300$ more. My NA only has about 75,000 miles on it, and while the shocks feel right, I know that it won't hurt to replace them soon. I know of a few dudes near me who have different set ups, so I just gotta get the time to drive their cars to see what I like. As far as the BC's go, how much did you pay for your set?

I have the Vmaxx Xxtreme set on mine. Springs are way too soft for autocross, but comfy as fuck on the street. Id go with the flyin miata track pack, if you're on a budget.
