Wonky Shifter & Stuff

postby spizzed » 12/09/13 @ 11:46

I was finally able to put some miles on the new acquisition this week (01 LS). I went for an emissions test and the computer did not have enough info to spit out results. After putting on 50mi or so I went back for a retest and all was well. A few times during the day the car would pop out of 1st gear. I had to hold it up in the detent to start off. As things warmed up it got less and less. I also noticed that shifting (especially 1st to 2nd) was a little notchy so I decided to check and change the Turret Juice which level was down pretty low & black as coal. The boots looked like my cats scratching post so I will be changing them and all the bushings. I am hoping that sorts things out. Any chance its a Slave going out?
Any thots on this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Why not just swap it out too? It's not expensive, 949 racing carries a pretty affordable one.

Pull the rubber boots on the slave back, if you see rust, replace it.

New boots, & bushings as well as a fresh fill of Luuube did a lot for smoovin' out the shifts but i'm still popping outa 1st gear 8/10 times from a stop. Phuck. Sound like I need a new trans?
