holy shit...
i could rape this thread with trash that i did to my ms3.

it all started with cross-threading my frame where the rear motor mount bolts...i used a jam nut.

i put a hole in my hot pipe and tried jbweld first.

i ran a direct injected car with only my in-tank fuel pump and sputtered and spit flames the entire 40 mile drive home.

i drained all my ps fluid and drove 40 miles...

i doubt the list ends there...

On my buddies subaru he needed to drive 2 hours home and happened to somehow loose an intercooler pipe on the road. So we took mother fucking toilet paper rolls and paper towel rolls, ya know, the cardboard part, wrapped that shit in duct tape and made it work. It held 15psi! He made it home.

During highschool, me and a group of friends were determined to swap shocks and lowering springs, in the middle of the night, despite having no spring compressors or access to some. But we had a very large amount of thick strong zip ties...

We completed the job by having the fattest dude (~300lbs) sit on the spring, while everyone else pushed down on his shoulders, while one guy zip tied all the middle coils, installing springs, then cutting all zip ties off.

Looking back, that had such potential for darwin awards failure, and yet somehow it worked out in the end.

In my old Cutlass I took the lid off the air cleaner and put a chopped up yardstick across it to hold the philter on. It sounded beastly.

Same car... I also made a center console to hold all of the stolen condiments from local fast food joints.

I won't even get started on my S10 at this time...

My old ranger was a nightmare. Had the fan go out on me so I had to hard wire an electric one directly into the back of a fuse in the fuse panel in the autozone parking lot so it wouldn't cook itself, eventually wired in a switch and relay, but still ugly as home made soap.
Also the passenger side window stopped working so I ended up breaking the clips in a drunken fix-it rage, so I drilled holes in the door panel right under the bottom of the window and just slid some bolts wrapped in tape under it to hold it up

My Geo metro was worse, got sideswiped by an F150 in a parking lot at less than 2 MPH, so naturally the whole side caved in, so I rented a slide hammer, broke out the drill and started making holes and pulling that shit out until it BARELY clear the massive 13" wheel/tire. It sat looking like I pissed a guy with a shotgun off until I sold it. I love that car ZERO fucks given in that thing

oh fuck!
i had a ranger and while i didn't make it ghetto...it was indeed ghetto as fuck.

there was no driver's side window.
the seatbelts didn't work.
the windshield was cracked.

40 miles from home one day, i exit the freeway and the shifter broke off of the transmission. it literally just snapped off and the truck was stuck in second gear.

i was able to get it to my friend's house, leave it, and list it on craigslist. i sold it for 260 a few weeks later.

i bought it for 560 and kept it for like 5-6 months. man i miss that fucking truck!

Well on my NA... It got rear ended by a tundra before I bought it and the trunk wouldn't close so I torched the rear and beat the shit out of it with a hammer. Didn't do shit so I unbolted the latch, cut a hole and flipped the latch around so my trunk would close. meow I have a trunk that barely closes and have a nice gap between my quarter panels and my bent trunk. Put a finish panel and tail lights off my old car and can't really tell what happened. Only ghetto thing on my car besides my bumper and fenders not being bolted on all the way and a crank pulley bolt snapped which I'm too lazy to fix but need to.

My jeep is ghetto as fuck! it would overheat a lot so I had the heater on blast full time, AC didn't work, headlights barely worked even though I had HID's in them. Every time I brake my reverse light would turn on. Has a horrible alignment so turning my wheel to 4 o'clock is straight, would get gnarly speed wobbles on the freeway. Ghetto ass eBay steering wheel. Put a ice cream truck siren on it and when I removed it part of the dash went with the tape. Tinted my tail lights and got pulled over a lot so I removed it with acetone which ate at the them so they have a white tint meow. I can go on but my heep is ghetto.

This sounds like my old mk2 Gti. Driver's side window didn't work and was held up with a beach towel. And the shifter arm broke in 2nd gear as well. But I was only like 4 miles from home and not 40.

Pretty much everything.

The car was pretty ghetto when I bought it - so all the really nice parts I have been putting on it are ghetto by mere association.

I was at a music festival in the hills of central PA. The whole plastic top of my e36's radiator exploded. Like the top was in about 10-15 peices. Pieced it all back together using the remaining pieces, JB weld and duct tape. Let it sit for a day. filled it all back up with water from one of the camping areas and that sucker lasted from there to Pittsburgh and back to the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

2) do not start modding your car
3) do not remove rear wiper
4) do not paint emblems black
5) do not remove side moldings
6) do not get trz rear poly mount and strip the nutted side
7) do not get led bulbs for the interior, turn signals, and the like
7a) do NOT forget resistors for your led turn signals
8) do not get twm shifter and twm bushings - this install actually didn't fail, though it took me two hours and several trips to the store.
9) do not get clear rear reflectors - this install went well actually
10) do not get txs race pipe and forget hardware - again, more trips to the store. also, REUSE the donut gasket or get a new one
11) do not install vinyl eyelids, they're ugly
12) do not install rain/window/visor/guard thingies...unless they're JDM TYTE YO - the others are ugly and bulgy
13) DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT PUTTING REAR EYELIDS ON
14) do not get a fake greddy valve from ebay
15) don't forget a flange for the fake greddy valve
16) don't remove one of the two springs
16a) don't re-orient the top part of the valve so that the vac line can be accessed
17) don't install said valve
18) don't install a turbo timer - we're cooled

phollow those 18 steps and you'll be ok, IF YOU phollow THE NEXT STEPS EXACTLY, YOU'LL NEVER EVER BE PHAILLYB

19) do not buy mbc
20) do not think you're going to run 18-19 psi - don't get a map clamp

37) definitely do not get a standback and pnp
38) do not forget about fuel pressure when you start tuning with the standback you didn't buy in step 37.
39) do not suck vendors dicks to get free/cheap parts
40) do not install fuel pump internals - these were ptp internals, they actually looked and felt nice, they just came apart
41) DO NOT DRIVE HOME WITH 25 PSI OF FUEL - you will backfire a ton, and you won't be able to rev above 3000 rpm
42) DEFINITELY DO NOT TRY TO PASS ANYONE ON THE DRIVE HOME, ESPECIALLY SEMIS
43) do not smoke a fat blunt with lenny when you get home
44) DO NOT GET YOUR CAR BACK INTO WORKING CONDITION, IT'S OBVIOUS YOU CAN'T HANDLE IT - SELL IT

47) do not replace stock pump with another stock pump - thanks pete, pump is still going strong

48a) that clunking you were ignoring is the bolt that broke in 48

51) do not get densos, or ngks or any spark plugs for that matter
52) do NOT get an air straightener for your intake and bend your intake pipes
53) don't replace your horn with just a piece of shit - it'll still sound like a piece of shit
54) do not drive 300 miles for a great deal on sway bars - thanks nader, fucking LOVE THEM
55) do not use loctite on end link nuts...lol
55a) do not figure out how to actually tighten nut on end link bolt - you'll need an allen
56) do not buy awr end links - the rears won't work with an upgraded sway
57) do not contact awr for upgraded end links for rear - the new hardware will make noise
58) do not get a towplate
59) do not get a sharkfin - you have to make sure it's straight - it gets shitty reception - you can order a new adhesive gasket if needed
60) do not even think about taking your balance shaft off - the thought of you taking the pan off is horrendous
61) don't mount your dashhawk anywhere silly - don't drill useless holes - don't get a dashhawk for that matter...it'll only scare you

71) don't expect much from this car
72) don't forget to get awd next time
73) do not rip apart the hot pipe when fixing the boost leak
74) don't try to mend the hot pipe hole with jb weld...it doesn't hold
75) don't cut the hot pipe and use the stock boost tube as a coupler
76) don't trade the sb for the ap
77) don't get a throttle body spacer
78) don't move your battery behind the driver's seat, it's a horrible place for it
79) don't get a dry cell battery, that would make too much sense
80) don't use your undertray anymore
81) don't retighte your front end links because they are coming undone
82) don't replace them with the stockers

after taking a long hiatus from doing anything to your car, don't get the idea that you want to keep on modifying it

83) don't install pg manifold v3
84) don't trade fmic for tmic
85) don't vta
86) don't switch from cai to sri

tldr

My first car was a white 1995 Chevy Lumina. I got it around 2000 I think.
I owned it for 6 years-ish.
I never changed the oil or added any to the engine.
Thinking back, I don't think I ever even opened the hood.
I tinted the windows.
I put an amp and two 15's in the trunk.
I had a blue neon bar that plugs in the cigarette outlet.
I put on 18" white ADR 6 spoke "racing" rims
It wasn't lowered, at all.
I got an exhaust shop to install dual exhaust with two huge tips each, QUAD EXHAUST YO!
I spray painted the tail lights black but used the masking tape circle as a stencil so it was like a poor kids altezza style.
As ghetto as I made it, I still miss it.
I'll poop in your butt hole and then you will poop it back into my butt and we will keep doing it back and forth with the same poop. Forever.

My third car, a 1987 Pontiac Grand Prix, got a ghetto cold air intake in the form of a cut piece of sheet metal as a replacement for the air philter cover. It just covered the diameter of the philter, not the entire diameter of the air box.

I once had a 2000 Acura integra GSR with 55k miles. It was damn near mint exterior and interior wise, and I miss it every day.

The guy we picked it up from was a super ghetto Mexican drug kingpin of some sort. His name was nemo and we thought we were gonna die when we went to the neighborhood to look at it.

He had for some reason taken off the exhaust and intake arm, so I drove 30 min home with it having open headers and open intake manifold.

He threw in a cheap fartpipe for free which didn't sound terrible.

It had some generation civic SI wheels which I hated, so I sold them. My replacement for these were 4 steelies with snow tires. This is where the ghetto happened.

1) whatever fucker at jiffy lube fucked me over by using the impact wrench for probably 30 min because 2 of the 4 lugs on the front left wheel were all sorts of fucked up. I did not know this till I was putting the steelies on, and they wouldn't go back on. So I had to drive a few miles with 2 lug nuts on to have someone put new wheel lugs on.

2 the steelies I had were different. Literally, all four of them were different steelies. Noticeably different too, I'll try and find pics. One of the patterns made the wheel touch the rear break caliper. I did not notice this until I was driving and heard the grinding. Later when I took it off to check, I had worn down part of the caliper. Weight reduction ftw.

3) I had to replace the cam seal, which involves taking off the valve cover. When I did this, I stripped one of the bolts inside the engine REAL bad. To the point where it was ruined and I just left it out. Yes, I took a bolt out of the motor, didn't put it back in, had tons of metal shavings inside the motor, and didn't give a shit. And I used damn near a whole bottle of sealant when I put the valve cover gasket back on, so it had oozed and dripped down all sides of the motor. But she didn't leak oil anymore!

I sold it right after all of this.

4) my friend and I installed a viper two way alarm/lock/remote start. We soldered up the connections and covered them all nicely, but just bundles and bundles of electrical wires up above the driver footwell. The integra also had an immobilizer. To bypass this for the remote start, I took off the ring that detects the chip in the key, put a key through it, and electrical taped them together and then taped that somewhere else in the footwell. Super jank, but it worked.

I ruined the wiring and probably the motor, so I feel super bad for whoever bought it after I traded it into the dealership.

Appreciated. She's come a long way but when you do it all yourself and you've never done it before, you just have to learn by doing. And that can be ugly at times.
