Rush was excellent.

I really liked this one but it seems to miss for some people. It's Sean Penn's movie based on the life of Chris McCandless. Let's call it a drama.

I watched "The Help" yesterday, I was surprised by it. I enjoyed it quite a bit.

It's about black maids working in affluent white households in Mississippi in the 1960s. The only thing I didn't like was Emma Stone allegedly never had boys interested in her, and we all know that would never happen in real life...

Just thought of another, shared actress with the last movie.

50/50

I hadn't heard about this one at all when it came out. My roommate put it on the house server, and I really, really enjoyed it. The movie chronicles the trials of Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character after he is diagnosed with cancer. Bonus points for Anna Kendrick in a quiet, nerdy, shy-girl role.

One Week

This one phollows Joshua Jackson's character on an offbeat road trip after being diagnosed with cancer. This one was pretty indie, but I really enjoyed it.

The movie was a great idea to start with. Tell everyone around the world to submit a video of what they are doing, at any time, on July 24th 2010.

I saw this one was on last night, excellent movie, and definitely my favorite from Darren Aronofsky.

The Wrestler

It's a drama, following Mickey Rourke playing an aging professional wrestler who, despite his failing health, continues to wrestle in an attempt to cling to the success of his 1980s heyday.

image

And I really liked this one, came out in 2012. It seems to be hit or miss and I can't quite put my finger on why...

Lawless

Lawless is based on Matt Bondurant's book The Wettest County in the World, which is the story of his grandfather and two great-uncles who survived The Depression by moonshining in rural Virginia.

Two English movies I quite enjoyed.

Billy Elliot.

Set in north-eastern England during the 1984-5 coal miners' strike, it stars Jamie Bell as 11-year-old Billy, an aspiring dancer dealing with the negative stereotype of the male ballet dancer

image

The Full Monty

A very phunny comedy about a group of laid off English steel workers who come up with a creative solution to their money problems.

"A martial arts rock band goes up against a band of motorcycle ninjas who have tightened their grip on Florida's narcotics trade."

So bad it's good genre, it has an original soundtrack sang by the main band in the film 'Dragon Sound' with great titles such as "friends," "tae kwon do family," and "against the ninja."

The songs are truly great.

It's on netflix.

The single greatest movie of all times. This is my absolute favourite.

Comedy/crime/action film

Highly quotable, hilarious (especially Brad Pitt's character), nice plot. It's basically Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels but better. That said, the two are incredibly similar so if you hate Lock, Stock; don't watch this.

Ronin, Jean Reno, Robert DeNiro, Sean Bean.

Good plot, good action, great believable car chase. Audi S8 with nitrous.

image

Pulp Fiction

I mean, if you HAVENT seen this - slap yourself in the genitals.

image

The first "Transporter."

Great action, great believable car chases/driving, cookie cutter plot. The next two Transporter movies sucked ass, but this one was good.

image

Le Mans

The movie that broke Steve Mcqueen's movie production business. phantastic driving, phantastic cars, phantastic audio. The first like half hour there are no spoken dialogs. It is "boring" by society standards - but hair raising if you are a complete car geek.
