How to: Duct oil cooler

postby bigx5murf » 10/26/13 @ 00:37

1-Install Flyin' Miata oil cooler kit (or just ask them to sell you their ss brackets, you can buy everything else for way cheaper from BAT Inc)

2-Buy a couple of these http://www.ebay.com/itm/NACA-DUCT-LARGE ... 2a32bce3ca

Nice idea but it could use a little improvement.

You need to seal off the sides of the oil cooler so the air is directed into it. Like this, the air can still pass around the sides. You can have all the ducting in the world directing air towards the cooler but if air is passing around the sides, it will all be for naught.

Just trying to help out

You're not the first to recommend that, I was doing this quick and dirty. I don't have a way to directly monitor oil temps, but my coolant temps did drop after this an average of 6-8 degrees
