Montreal kind of scares me right meow, too. I picked them out of the East because Boston's too beat up (and I think Boychuk will be missed more than anyone guessed) and who knows what the Pens will do.

Oh, one more thing...CBJ is 1-0-0. Ryan Johansen had better be worth all the crap Columbus went to to sign him...

For black folks, I think I disagree. I might be mistaking the symptom for the actual problem, but the read I've always had on why black people don't like hockey is because they think it's a "white people" sport. Tied into that tag is simple economic reality, though that only covers the ability to participate in it (depending on the market, a hockey ticket should be easier to acquire than football or basketball, I'd imagine). I've never played a single second of organized hockey in my life, and that hasn't stopped me from enjoying it, so I see economics as a cop-out, and lean back on the way black people see hockey as a sport black people don't participate in.
phillyb™™ wrote:i think people not getting into hockey is the same reason people don't get into soccer here. it's too patient.

You mean the scoring is too low? I think that's only because a goal is only worth one point. If you compare the number of actual touchdowns scored during a given week (not points) and goals scored, they're probably not that different.

yeah, low scoring. i guess your point about football is a good one. last night, the giants lost 28-0 or some shit...but in reality, that's just 4-0. lol.

rangers lost 6-3 at the home opener to the fucking maple leafs. what kind of shit is that?!

I still have them as the dark horse in the "Dishonor for Connor" sweepstakes. They had a slow start last year, too, so I could be getting ahead of myself

BTW...how 'bout them Islanders? Only Anaheim has more goals right meow.

It wouldn't surprise me. Minorities have become too much the majority in football, basketball, and baseball for anyone wanting to scream racial epithets to be taken seriously by anyone.

Another point that this article sort of brings up, hockey, especially in Canada, is far more provincial than all the other sports.
