Well, hey, the 76ers are 1-17. They managed to win one game so they didn't break the record for the worst starting record in NBA history.

dallas eakins will likely not have a job much longer. don't know too much about EDM to know if that's really the answer or not, but from what i'm reading - it's not.

simmonds scored last night with 2 seconds left to force OT, then lost. @Derek @Highschool @mx5militia - suck it.

hahahahahhahaha.... yeah.... soooo.....

The Eagles have won more games than the Flyers and Sixers combined.....

Way to go philly.

Tickets for the phantoms are cheap. Lots of availability in advance. Perhaps we can arrange something around the christmas break?

I would love to, I'll find out in a couple weeks when I can start walking or driving again.

I had to turn down free tickets to the Hershey Bears for tomorrow's game.

haven't been catching much of what's going on in the league lately, but the rangers have been playing pretty well.
i think nash is on an 11-12 game point streak and hank has been back to elite-form.

caps/panthers set a record last night for most rounds in a shootout - 20!
TWENTY FUCKING SHOOTOUT ROUNDS.
i don't even know how that works, haven't read anything just yet.
but like...you dress 20 skaters, two of which are goalies.
so 18 guys shoot and then what?
then you can start reusing guys?

lol...
i'm sure that roster is going to change a lot between meow and march.
second of all, while i don't really know much about the front office in edmonton, it's my understanding the eakins isn't really the problem.

thoughts on hall?

My guess says because of the front office, the core won't change. They just really do not seem to get it. Eakins didn't help himself, but he was NOT the problem. You have a bunch of kids making $6mil each for big years even though they've done exactly nothing. The Oilers are a poster child for the validity of bridge contracts--don't pay your kids a dime until they and the team prove themselves.

Depending on who you read, Hall is nearly uncoachable.

remember, they won 4 cups in 5 years. that city LOVES that shit. poor guys.

here's something for evan @Highschool

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms made American Hockey League history Tuesday, scoring three times over a 21-second span in the opening minute of the game against the Binghamton Senators.

The Phantoms tied an AHL mark for the fastest three goals in league history. The record was previously set by the Hershey Bears in 1962.

OH...and our friend james neal got the first fine for embellishing!
for those that don't know, there were some rule changes for this season. it must have come after everyone watched the MTL/NYR series last year...
players AND coaches can be fined for embellishment.

Revised for the 2014-15 season following offseason approval by the League's Board of Governors and the National Hockey League Players' Association, NHL Rule 64 is designed to bring attention to and more seriously penalize players (and teams) who repeatedly dive and embellish in an attempt to draw penalties. Fines are assessed to players and head coaches on a graduated scale outlined below:

image

* For Head Coach, each FINE issued to a player on his Club counts toward total.

That Stadium jersey will be photographed on homeless people a few months from meow because I'm pretty sure that's the only way the NHL is going to get rid of them.

@Bryan re: eakins and EDM...quote from taylor hall

"There has been almost zero success since I've been here as an Oiler," said Hall, the first of three consecutive No. 1 overall selections for Edmonton back in 2010. "And after one coach maybe you think 'OK, maybe the next one is going to be the one who's going to bring us there.' But after a while you start looking in the mirror and start wondering what you're doing and how much you're bringing to the team and what you need to do better. Certainly this year I haven't been at my best and I'm looking forward to getting my game back.

I don't see the East changing a whole lot, except for the fact that the Pens are once again near the top of the league in Man Games Lost and lately have been a freaking tire fire. Perron has been good, but it seems like chemistry on the lines has just been impossible to keep going. Losing Maatta and Dupuis (possibly for his career, if you ask me for my bet) has been a big impact.

How in the heck have the Rangers been so relatively uninjured?!

Really hoping that shutout against the Oilers gets Fleury back on the horse. He started out this season SO well, but starting at the turn of the new year, everything went to pot.

Doesn't hurt that King Henrik is out. I hope as a human being that he recovers quickly. Couldn't imagine taking a puck to the throat!

we had a decent outing from talbot last night, and i'm perfectly ok with that. dude's pretty solid and i think he'll get a starting position somewhere either next season or the season after that.
