Also, the season before Adidas takes over the NHL uniform contract. If the World Cup sweaters are any indication, things could be good.

Pacific is a mess.
Matthews is the real deal.
McJesus - hope he can stay healthy this season.
Holy shit, the habs! Like seriously holy shit.
And the Weber/Subban deal. Just still wow.

Rags look decent. Got a bunch of good young kids who can really help this roster. Our defense is still kinda a mess, but if the 2015-16 Penguins have taught us anything, you don't need to have the best defense in the league to win the cup.

Price was injured and that set them back. The Rangers are making good teams look bad and are simply exposing them AND capitalizing on the chances they get.
Only time will tell and once our offense settles down, we still have a pretty rough blue line. But damn this team is exciting.
They've scored 11 goals in their last two games.
18 in the last four games.
25 in the last six.
And 40 in the ten games they've played.

The PP is fucking clicking, which is great news for Rags fans. Our PP has been shit for a couple of seasons.

In all fairness, the Rags had been shit for a couple seasons. They were just getting bailed out by King Henrik ;)

That said, the Rangers have played WAAAAAAAAAAAAY better than I expected them to. They had a good offseason and their acquisitions seem to be working out well :)

Let's see...
Rangers:
2010 - last time the rags missed the playoffs.
2011 - Second round exit
2012 - Eastern Conference Finals
2013 - Second round exit
2014 - Stanley Cup Finals
2015 - Eastern Conference Finals
2016 - shit

I don't think you can call the 2014 Rangers shit or lump them up in "shit for a couple of seasons" cause that team was good. Following year, we were still a good team, but didn't adjust to adversity in the eastern conference finals. Last year? They didn't deserve to make the playoffs. They were bad.

This year - I agree with you. I didn't expect them to be this good. They're potting 4 fucking goals a game on average...ten games into the season. Not sustainable, we know that, but shit, for ten games in they're averaging 4GPG, that's pretty fucking good.

Yep. Rust just got his first goal of the season last night. 5-1 drubbing of the Ducks, who look GARBAGE this year.

Malkin has scored Goal #300
Crosby looks like, well, Crosby. Like him or not, he is the best all-rounder in the world, still.

With Letang out, the D struggled mightily. Fleury was getting hung out to dry a LOT, but has looked pretty good. Murray got his first start of the season last night (after breaking his hand during the World Cup).

Hate when these guys get injured at an event like that, or the Olympics. That sucks.
I have Rust in my GM mode on NHL16. I love him.
Fuck the Ducks, in fact fuck most of that division. I only like Edmonton and Calgary.
Phoenix? Fuck them.
LAK? FUCK ALEC MARTINEZ
SJS - Actually, I don't hate these guys. They're a really fun team to watch.
ANA - I just can't get into them. I don't know why. I'm not even sure it's a rational reason why, but I just can't get into them.

postby phillyb™ » 11/03/16 @ 16:42

Yeah, I'm on board with both of those. I like the Flames cause I like Gaudreau. The Leafs are an easy team to root for this season with the addition of Matthews, Babcock behind the bench, Nylander playing well, etc. Shit, I think even Kadri is having a good start to the season.

I'm excited to see Ottawa. While I miss Derick Brassard, we got Zibanejad AND a second round pick. But Ottawa has always been a team I've liked and can't really pin-point why, but with Brass Balls, Karllson, Ryan, Stone, etc...they're fun.

Oilers are finally clicking, eh? Really hope McDavid can be healthy all season. He really got the shit end of the stick last year after being injured so early on. But IIRC he was playing and producing good numbers.

Our goal distribution is interesting. And fucking Grabner - I don't know anyone on the planet who expected this kind of scoring coming from him. Rags are dangerous dude and getting scoring up and down the lineup. They've scored 5 goals or more in 5 consecutive games and 8 times overall this season.

Yeah, everyone on Phil's forum was talking about his speed, especially because he was an Islander. When you play the same team 6 times in a season, you get to see/recognize/appreciate guys like Grabner and his speed.

He's potted 7, and is showing NO SIGNS of letting up. I love it.

Yes, and that's what scares me. The last time he missed nearly half a season (the year of the Hedman hit and concussion scare), he was on a crazy scoring tear.
phillyb™ wrote:How's Letang playing?
meow that he's back, exactly what you'd expect: pretty dang well. Even if you discount his puck-moving ability, he's still the best D-man on the team.
phillyb™ wrote:Wait, who the fuck is starting in net? Flower?
Best answer "it really doesn't matter". Flower is having a great season so far (even though the team was hanging him out to dry with Letang out) and Murray seems to be none the worse for wear after recovering from that broken hand. Seems to be just as good as everyone hoped he'd be. Still say there's no reason to trade Fleury.

MAF's contract isn't even that bad for a starting G. I thought it was much worse than 5.75m per season. I wouldn't trade him either unless you absolutely need to like.

I really wonder how long the Isles last at Barclay's. There have been numerous articles about the ice quality, and I even heard the announcers talking about how bad the ice was in a highlight the other day.

Good for Ladd, I guess, but not in love with that contract. lol

Seriously, if you're not reading that comic, you're missing out on great hockey in-jokes.

Pens and Rangers are both looking good this year, but I really gotta wonder when the Rangers' goal scoring (and shooting percentage) come back to earth what they'll look like. I mean, Sidney Crosby is practically scoring at historic pace and the Rangers are STILL 20 freaking goals ahead!
