i'm still kinda in shock.
mtl did us a huge favor by eliminating boston.
this season has had so many eye-opening stats/storylines for the rangers.

Oh dude...that's awesome!

Did you see on Soft Dump where someone posted up a stub from '94...note the price :kitty:

I'm going to Game 5 of the Kelly Cup final here in Cincinnati on caturday with my two local hockey fan friends :)

nice!
i wish i still had all the channels. i just moved and didn't get cable.

dude, 24 bucks for a game in 94.

these tickets literally cost me an arm and a leg that i will slowly be reattaching to my body over the next 12 months.

To put that in perspective, I will be paying $20 plus tax per ticket to watch the game on caturday. By the example of an MSG ticket for the SCF, 20 years ago, the ECHL was apparently paying every fan about $100 to sit for a Kelly Cup Final game.

Don Cherry is a windbag. He's jingoistic and I'm not entirely sure he's not a full-blown racist.

However...he often has a point. It may not be exactly right, but he has a point.

Honestly, he's probably the only reason I *really* try to get the CBC feed.

I'm glad he's gone. Not because he's a bad guy or anything; he's just not that great of a hockey player. He is definitely a heart and soul kind of guy, though. He'll do PK duty and should do a decent job of keeping the other team's enforcers honest. Problem is, you've already got enough PITA players that have more talent.

Speaking of which, the more I think about it, the happier I am with the job Jim Rutherford did in free agency. At the very least, he got rid of contracts that were (as it turns out: see Orpik, Niskanen, and Engelland) getting a much bigger raise, and didn't overpay for the guys he did get.

For Niskanen, MAYBE. He had a pretty decent and consistent season in a contract year on a team that was absolutely plagued with injuries. He's relatively young, and only seems to be getting better. One could argue that he was even more valuable than his other trade-mate (and meow former teammate), James Neal.

Orpik...no way in Hell. I love that man, but apparently the Caps front office is the only group of people that aren't aware that he's definitely on the back 9 of his career. I would've loved to see him do a victory lap in Pittsburgh, but there's no way he wouldn't have asked for more money than anyone with sense would give him.

it's so phunny when you take into consideration how much cap space washington had and what their needs were.
so they basically outbid anyone on those two players in particular.
the term though...
think they can put together another good 5 years?

idk man.

did you pay attention to free agent frenzy?

A little bit. I can tell you one thing: Montreal is going to regret not giving Subban his money a couple years ago. meow they're pretty much going to have to give him max years and max money if they want to hold onto him.

i didn't phollow that a couple of years ago, but heard the same shit.
i'm excited to see brad richards in chicago.

i'm also really happy about your signings as well. it's clear you needed depth and you definitely picked some up. wonder what that does for you going down the stretch.

it's also crazy to think that some of these guys will be gone by the trade deadline.

marc staal's name comes up a lot due to his status and what he may get as his next contract.

I need to get on...what's the link again?

BTW...more I hear about Erhoff, the happier I am about him. For one year, if nothing else, there's practically zero risk. We'll see about the pair we got for Neal. I still say that the fact that the fact that two guys whose combined point totals probably won't match Neal's suggests that Pens brass REALLY had gotten tired of his **** and just wanted him gone before he ended someone's career on their watch.

it's not necessarily all about point totals.
when you get rid of a guy like neal, you look at goal differential and whether or not you can afford to lose some of the positive there to gain more depth. so it's not just point totals, per se.

phil's phorum - http://bsbh.co - a ranger phorum, but good reads on players.

You are right, but 30+ goals per year consistently is VERY hard to come by these days. You don't give that up without good reason, that's all I'm saying. It's not as if Neal was just someone who potted a goal here and there...he's a legit goal-scorer that is only getting better.
