The peanut butter thread

postby Boomer Smurfing » 03/30/14 @ 22:34

I am going to create the most pointless topic that I thought of tonight while making my lunch for tomorrow. What's better jif or skippy pb?
balls to the walls... if that makes any sense whatsoever.

Jif. By far. Oddly enough, Jif Natural creamy pb is cheaper than their regular creamy pb at Walmart.

They look very tasty. The real question is what do you put with your peanut butter? I really enjoy some nice strawberry jelly or some Nutella

The real question is are you a normal, functioning human and like creamy peanut butter, or are you a phaggot and like nuts in your mouth via crunchy?

Balls to the wall was a saying created in WWII by multi-engine bomber pilots. It refers to the act of pushing the ball-tipped throttles forward toward the fire wall. Full throttle, planted, and balls deep if you will. The saying makes no sense seeing as how most multi-engined bombers had their engines mounted on the wing with the respective engine mounts bolted firmly to the fire wall, which was behind the engine. So naturally if one was to push a ball shaped object mounted on a lever controlling the throttle on a multi-engine bomber, they would actually be pushing the ball away from said firewall, making a "balls away from the wall" type action. Call me bold, but I declare this saying to be pompous and antiquated. Delusional if you will.

Nevertheless, some of the pilots and crew of the time period could have properly used the phrase had it been known to them...

Douglas SBD Dauntless, "balls to the wall" pretty much all the time, but certainly when retracting the dive brakes that had been forgotten.

Junkers Ju-87, roll inverted and glance at the G-Meter, drop bomb and "balls to the wall" to get the hell out of there.

Mitsubishi A6M Zero intercepts the enemy and engages, those who remain airborne go "balls to the wall" to escape, hoping the Zeros didn't phollow. This was mainly during the Wildcat era, pre-Hellcat and Bearcat.

I use the phrase "balls to wall" very carefully. I apply it in a perceived context despite my lack of true historical understanding. This does not absolve me from the improper use of the phrase, nor does it validate the unceremonious tossing about that it has become.
