The Master Plan of Newo

postby PHEOX » 09/17/14 @ 00:26

I've been thinking about making a build thread, and more importantly, putting together a list of shizz for the car. Soooo, here we go.
I bought my 2005 Black Mica MSM on August 19th, 2013 with 19,840 miles. The car was pristine, and had some bolt ons plus stock parts. I was looking around for a while, and the only cars that had fit my criteria were out of state (A Lava in New Orleans and a Velocity Red in Montana).
The car is a GT package car, and came with bolt ons and two sets of wheels, a Hard Dog M2 Sport, and Flyin Miata Stage 1 Suspension. Decent enough for me to learn on (much better than stock 148,xxx mile NA suspension on my '94). This is the car before picking it up.

Swapped over to the Konig's that came with the car (15x7 Rewinds) and autocrossed it the day after buying it. Fun, but shitty tires (BFG Comp 2 or whatever) and suspension slow me down from the fast guys.

Since August, I have pretty much just been driving in my free time. I just started "hunts" for local backroads and started stringing things together. I started taking driving more seriously, and I kinda fell in love with this stupid asshole car that I can't get more than 17mpg in. Instead of modding, I just used all of my spare money in gas, and have averaged almost 1,000 miles a week. Somehow, the car just takes it and takes it, hard launches everyday, hard shifts, heavy braking (seriously heavy), and nonstop running. I know every road within 100 miles, and I bomb everywhere. Each corner is viewed as an opportunity. :phillyb™: I've reached 53,000 miles since August 2013.

I need to make a list of parts. My plan has been to do practically everything. This is my development car in a way. It is my way to learn as a driver how each change effects the attitude of the car. I do not do these things quickly, because I like to reach my limits on my current set-up before changing everything around. So, hurrrrr we go.

Say hi to Newo everyone.

Let's start with the important stuff that is wanted..

Chassis

Suspension:
-Coils are TBD. Really want to get into a regressive set up, and that's $$$
-SuperMiata endlinks
-Racingbeat front ARB
-Stock MSM Rear ARB or none.
-*Possibly Sammy Valafar tubular control arms with spherical bushings (unsprung weight and plans for slicks yo! Strong arms are good arms yo!)
-Drop knuckles (suspension geometry is important.)

Stiffening:
-Garage Star fender bracing
-Garage Star frame rails
-Blackbird Fabworx Street Cage

Brakes:
-Flyin' Miata Big Mama Jama Stage 2 Wilwood BBK. The question at this point is to delete ABS or not. Sport brake NB's with ABS have an electronic brake proportioning valve and I cannot run the Wilwood prop valve. I don't like that.
-Trackspeed Engineering brake duct kit
-Stainless braided and sheathed brake lines and good fluid.

Fun Part. Wheels:
-Really loving the new 15x8 RPF1's for a street wheel possibility.
-6UL's for track use.
Exterior and Aero
-Jetstream GT200 kit. EXCLUDE; taillights, that fastback, wing, rear diffuser, hood, headlight covers, mirrors, lots of random shit. I pretty much want the front splitter/undertray, and all of that fender nonsense, and that sweet, spicy hood.imageJetstream GT200 by Ethan Nicosia, on Flickr
-Garage Vary fastback (if that happens ever)
-I want to copy Keith Tanner's wing, mounted lower for fastback
http://youtu.be/gK5wDfDK2Lk
-Murakami mirrors
-Garage Vary Tails (possibly, I know of (we all know probably) a certain silver NB1 fastback with these tails and I don't want him to feel copied. His car is gawgeousss.
-Aerocatch hood pins
***OEM Hardtop
-Project G Hardtop window w/ Twist Vent Holes
-Project G Hardtop Spoiler
-Project G G-Vent Wing Window

Interior

Things Being Touched
***Nardi Personal 350mm Steering Wheel
-ATC Sprint 350mm Steering Wheel
-Sparco 333 330mm Suede Steering Wheel
***NRG Slim Hub
***NRG QR 2.0
***Joyfast SS Shift Knob
***Miataroadster Short Throw
***Miataroadster Shifter Extension

Pretty Shit
***Revlimiter Polished Vent Rings
-Garage Vary Carbon Console Insert
-Flat Door Cards (unsure of what direction to go)
***Revlimiter Unity Gauges
-Joyfast Polished Handbrake Button
-KG Works Gauge Rings
-Nakamae Quilted Center Console
-RS Products Classic Meter Gauge Panel

Seats and the Like
-Whatever I find that comfortably fits my fat ass and takes 6-points.

Misc.
-Valentine V1 rader
-I really need a jammer someday but that's a whole new world to get into
-PLX DM-6 digital gauge for driver side vent.
-Modules for boost, oil temp, wideband, and EGT
-Fix the dummy oil pressure gauge in NB2 cluster with <94 oil pressure sender

Engine
TBD...

Turbo stuffs
-GT2860
-Artech pipin' eventually :phillyb™:
-Fab9 FMIC
-A lot TBD...

Photo dump because my thread.

Carbotech XP10's, centric rotors, lots of bite and fun. Oh yeah, 949 clutch line which feels great.

And I'm hard on slaves (YEAHHHH!) so a new slave also

What 4 days of Carbotech dust and light rain will do to your wheels. Metal polish doesn't do shit.

Friend has this 2860 sitting in his garage with EVERYTHING needed. Has 4k miles on it and came off of another MSM. Kinda just waiting for funds and some other things that are more important, but it will stay there.

So update. Spun rod bearings a few weeks ago due to oil starvation. Found a new engine and turbo that will be being installed Tuesday. The engine is from a local friend of mine and it is currently in an NA. It has 99,xxx miles on it and also features a fully upgraded factory turbo on it from Deadbolt which is pretty much the same thing as the Blouch upgrades offered for the MSM. The turbo is 300whp+ capable, although I'll be making 210-220whp or so with my injectors (305cc Supras). I will also be adding an Adaptronic Select for management that is locally for sale and came off of another Mazdaspeed. Some other things are coming with it like the Begi I/C which is at least better than the Ebay I/C the previous owner installed, and it is a Randall style intake (not pictured other than the hole in the firewall) which means I will have my Cappuccino washer fluid reservoir will be for sale. All of my old engine and turbo stuff is for sale meow.

Oh yeah, I'll be deleting A/C and doing a proper power steering delete, as well as getting rid of as much bullshit emissions stuff as I can. The engine was pulled Wednesday and the turbo has no evident shaft play, and seems to be rebuildable. :phillyb™: BUY IT. It can even come with a modified FM DP that will work on an NA.

Did a thing last night. A very dirty thing. This is only a precut. There will be more to happen but my neighbor was acting like a bitch about the dremel noise at 7:30PM yesterday.

It will happen, need to finish it first and do new exhaust. This is the lowest I was willing to cut because the Mazdaspeed lip ruined the lower part of the bumper. Essentially right meow it is an open canvas. I am thinking about a center exit exhaust? Any thoughts or suggestions?
