Took all day but I wired up the front windshield wipers because its starting to randomly rain again here in CA. Also took the time to order new headlights, a new headunit, and some front speakers. Only going to be using two 3.5 inch speakers in the dash for my music. Something simple, and lightweight.

Here's an artsy picture because I got to drive the car today:

Still need to figure out the evap system so I can get the car ref'd and legal.

Norcal actually! But thank you! There are only a few tiny spots of surface rust actually. Once I get back from Portugal, overhaul on the motor and brakes begins. Then it'll be road ready. Also trying to find some OEM BBS RA's because these Rotas are too big and stand out too much for me. Going for an OEM+ look. I'll be removing the stickers as well.

In the meantime, here's a pic of the Miata I owned a while back.

Update!
Got some sick wheels and ordered new tires today. Working at a shop has awesome perks. Can't wait until they start on my fucking motor. I need this motor done soon so I can finish the brake upgrade and get it BARd. I also have some miscellaneous shit that I've been picking up like a wink mirror and rear strut brace.

Low key upset that the car hasn't moved at the shop but high key happy that more parts are flowing in.

Hooray for being single and a kid because I can blow all my earnings on this car. :tits: :phillyb™:

@GeorgeG5
That first link is big bumpers. Not really looking for those at the moment.

That last link with the red GTI has the small bumpers which to me look exceptionally better and more old school. If my car was already running and road legal, I'd talk to you about shipping, but I have my priorities and need to get my car back on the road before anything "nice" comes in.

Seriously, thank you and I'll let you know in the future about importing some nice euro goodies! :phillyb™:

Making progress on the engine rebuild:

Pulling the motor out of the car.
image

Here is the motor pulled out and separated from the transmission.
image

Here is the blown headgasket. Rusted through.
image

Here is the head taken off the block with the cams taken out.
image

The bottom side of the head. You can see some of the damage.
image

Close up of some of the damage on the head. These small chunks taken out will need to be welded and smoothed.
image

This was from throughout the week. Right meow, the head is at the machine shop getting fixed. I have more brake parts on the way. Once everything comes in, I will be upgrading the front knuckles and brakes as well as converting the rear drums to discs. All of this has to be done within the next couple of weeks. Hopefully it all goes smoothly. :suicide:

Honestly, I would get bags if I didn't have to run sleeve bags in the rear. They aren't as good as bellow bags and they tend to sag a little bit. The only kits for my car have sleeves in the rear; I think it's impossible to fit any sized bellow bag in there.

No bags means super awesome Bilstein PSS9 coilovers for radical stiffness and dope ass handling! Autocross here we come! :phillyb™:

I'll need to find some titty stickers to put on the car. If anyone has any leads to titty stickers, I'll slap some on the car!

One intake bank and one exhaust bank, which makes it a inline motor. Much like most of BMW's 6 cylinders and Jeeps 6 cylinders. So is it really a vr6? I figured the "v" means it is a v style motor. Im not a vw expert though. :suicide:

Edit: Quick Google search and found my answer on Wikipedia.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/VR6_engine
"The name VR6 comes from a combination of V engine (German: V-Motor), and the German word "Reihenmotor" (meaning "inline engine" or "straight engine") - and so is described as a "Vee-Inline engine" (VR-Motor). It shares a common cylinder head for the two offset banks of cylinders. It has a specific sound that is unique and different than either inline or "V" engines. The engine is currently in use in a variety of VW models, one such example is the Volkswagen Passat NMS."
I like learning. :kitty:
