First coat of primer went on well. I still have to prime the core support and whatnot. Then it will be sanded, and a second coat of primer. Then color. The drivers side is nearly ready for primer as well, needs a bit more sanding.

Ignore the subframe, I have a nice clean one waiting for all the paint/sanding to be done.

Had to go today and do some work in the east valley, so I took the opportunity to take some pics of one of the floors we installed last year. With some added eye candy.

So,

After having a rather disappointing attempt at making it to JCCS.

And since I had the engine out of the car again.

And I am an indecisive bastard with too much Miata crap laying around.....

Something interesting has happened. I looked at the red car, and it was filthy from dust and sanding dust. I wiped it down, and realized I had forgotten how clean it was....

3 Nights down, and the red car has been re-wired, re-braked, re-suspended, re-bushed, and re-diffed.

I still have a list of stuff to finish like :

Put in the new carpet, dash, and install my steering wheel, etc.
I need to transfer over the roll bar and subframe connectors from the black car.
and Stuff the engine/trans in it.

Debate and decide if I want to put the carbon fiber flares on this one.

Tonight I installed the suspension, brakes ( NB model rears with NA model fronts,) stainless lines, got the brakes bled and functioning. Installed the ebrake cables.

Goal is to be driving the damn thing by tues - wednesday.

It has been generally accepted that dinosaurs became extinct due to some large meteorite striking the earth, causing massive climate change.

However, with this recent discovery in Madagascar, I meow believe that the previous theory needs to be redacted and changed.

For as we all know, the dinosaurs existed all the way up to about 66 million years ago. They first appear in the fossil record 235 million years ago.

Only something drastic could have happened to cause them to die out.

This, is the reason :

http://news.yahoo.com/weird-skull-madagascar-reveals-ancient-mammal-184845557.html

That is correct. Marmots were around 72 million years ago.

Marmots killed the dinosaurs, covered it up - and only meow were they discovered to exist that far back.

If the Dinosaurs died out 66 million years ago, and the "first" Marmots indeed appeared 72 million years ago - it is obvious.

Apparently these ancient marmots were quite large compared to other mammals at the time (up to 20 pounds.) Given modern Marmots can be quite a bit larger I conclude it is only a matter of time before they wipe us out as well. Glad I am on their side.

During the dinosaur age most mammals were puny, generally weighing less than a pound. meow a bizarre fossil skull from Madagascar has revealed a comparative giant, one that clocked in at maybe 20 pounds.

"It was a monster," said David Krause of Stony Brook University in New York, who led the discovery team. "It looks like a big groundhog."
It's the second heaviest mammal known from the dinosaur era, which ran roughly from 250 million years ago to 65 million years ago, and the most massive of that time from Southern Hemisphere.
Krause said his best guess is that the creature might have measured 20 inches to 24 inches from nose to rump. It lived sometime between 66 million and 72 million years ago.
image

As you can see by this artists' rendering - the Marmots are conspiring with smaller mammals to perform a precision strike on the much larger (and less intelligent) dinosaur in the background.

image

meow researchers can see a face, and it is bizarre, Krause said. The skull is very tall in comparison to its length. The eye sockets are huge. Weird flanges by the bottom jaw once anchored chewing muscles.

The skull also revealed that the brain was tilted at a strange angle not seen in other animals. And it displayed an odd mix of primitive characteristics with more advanced ones.
All tactical enhancements. Larger eyes, stronger jaws, and an brain angle that would yield more brain matter in it's skull.

Analysis suggests Vintana was an agile plant-eater with good eyesight in low light and a good sense of smell. Such abilities probably came in handy to avoid the predatory dinosaurs and other beasts that shared its environment, Krause said.

"It would have been a very fine hors d'oeuvre" for a dinosaur, Krause said.
This just proves, that even today the ancient Marmot is fooling history into thinking it was a harmless bystander - instead of the mastermind tactician that carried out Dino-genocide.

So there you have it. The real reason Dinosaurs became extinct.

I didn't realize I had not updated this in so long. Will have to do a car update - but there is much more important news to announce.

The Marmot's triumphant return to the vintage car world.

I worked at a top quality restoration shop years ago (dream job) and unfortunately the economic downturn I was laid off.

I have thousands of pics of amazing cars from there. I got to restore, drive, maintain, etc cars most people never see, or dream of. It was amazing.

Since then I was never able to get back into that - as it is a very difficult industry to get into to (when deal with top notch shops...)

But - I accepted a lucrative offer to go to work for another top quality shop! I start in a couple weeks. Apparently my rep proceeded me, and they were foaming at the mouth to hire me.

Some shop pics :

Basically the set-up is :

TechnoToyTuning (who suck, btw) adapter and airhorns
Toyota "silvertop" ITBs ( TeeJay, M8x1.25)

I used a 8 dollar air compressor distribution block for my vacuum block (screw paying 50 bucks for a Golden Eagle thing... then having to buy all the fittings.)

Also, the vacuum fittings on the T3 adapter kind of suck so I think I will be redoing the vacuum system eventually. I am going to make a manifold style out of brake line so it can all tuck under the manifold and I don't have lines running everywhere.

The air horns didn't fit well either - one did, the other three I had to slightly file to get enough clearance for the supplied fasteners (thanks again T3 - you suck.)

Hondata phenolic intake gasket

New Toyota ITB gaskets and air horn gasket

I found the CR thread about ITBs to be very frustrating. A few people like FreedomGLI (who sold me his adapter, a second set of ITBs, all the gaskets, horns, etc) put forth so much info - however the thread is basically page after page about trying to solve problems that don't exist.

The bulk of the conversation there is about fuel rails (the stock one will work with simple mods...) and throttle cables (my stock bracket re-located to the bottom of the first carb worked perfectly - no mods needed.)

I don't understand why some people are having so much trouble. However useful info about TPS wiring, posting working megasquirt maps, etc - all all missing from the thread.

I think people tend to way, way over complicate things. It literally too me just a few hours to install these and the car started and ran fairly reasonably right off the bat - and if anyone's car would be finicky it would be mine given the mods it has.

Whilst I was in there I made a much nicer/better COP harness too, the one I was running was a bit of a mess.
