Pink is a good color, no mistaking a Miata driver if the car is pink.

BOOM BIZNEEZETCHS.

I had the shop buff the body for me so you can all see... THERE WAS NO NEED TO REPAINT THE WHOLE THING..

Really annoyed that meow I skimped out on the top and decided to spray can that...but whatever, I somewhat like the contrast.

Oh daaang. haven't updated this in a few days..

Alright.. here we gooooooo

So... upgraded da braaaaaakes.

HP+ with fresh rotors. Stops like a champ (did spring another brake system leak.. eff me... this car and it's leaking brake system will literally be the end of me).

image

And the worst part.. I have ONE wheel.. that doesn't want to get aligned like the champ I built it to be. It won't go past -3.2 degrees and it's really annoying. I've measured every single control arm in all the appropriate spots and nothing is bent. From what I've been told, there's a fair chance my subframe could be installed at an awkward position. But I was advised that AWR makes upper control arms that remedy this issue since it's a common problems from what I understand on Miatas... especially even moderately lowered ones.

Even taking out the cam and using a regular bolt to push it as far as we can.. we can only get -2.9 it's quite annoying.. the goal was -.75

Anyway... time to clean your eyes. Here's how she stands.

puuuuurdy huh?

Yeah, it looks excellent.

May I ask what the insurance company was willing to pay to compensate you for the previous hardtop getting jacked by the local homies?

Thanks Phil. And Evan, it was USAA but most insurance companies will cover it.

I've dealt with them on the receiving end of some self-entitled teenage girl doing a hit and run on my car whose dad didn't think it was a big deal because "it's just an old junk car anyway."

Long story short, USAA was a pleasure to deal with, the yuppie scum was not.

When I bought my hardtop I specifically asked All State and they also said it was covered in the event of theft or damage.

In case of any issue. Always say your car came with the top from factory.

And USAA has absolutely the best customer service I've ever experienced.

Alright, so I had my first HPDE in this car this past weekend. It was a blast. Went to VIR.

image
I was a little skeptical about the towing abilities of the bronco but holy shit this 5.8 can tow without breaking a sweat. Netted 15mpg towing the Miata to VIR which was about 200miles. Uphill, no issues.

So took the Miata through tech, passed and I was pretty stoked.
And towing cigar selfie.
image

Set up my campsite, I was originally intending to find a patch of grass to camp at.. but I said screw it. I was entirely too lazy after the drive.

image

AND MY DINNER OF CHAMPIONS.
image

Then... it happened, I was going out onto the grid to line up and my water pump blew out. Starting pissing coolant EVERYWHERE. So I was kept off the track and I sat there looking at my car deciding what to do.. either JB Weld the shit out of my water pump or try to ghetto fix it.. instead I decided to just replace it and do a timing belt at the same time.

So I started cranking away, there was a bunch of Miata guys around me that said "no way, you won't be able to fix this. Your trackday is done." So I just kept laughing and cranking away, majority of these people have never seen anyone replace a timing belt at the track and it was pretty amazing. I fixed it within the day with enough time to make my last heat.

I just have a couple issues with my driving, I started out and my instructor just told me "you're obviously coming from an autocross background" because I was very sharp with the wheel and throwing momentum around. I was too aggressive and it didn't work out well on track. By the 3rd session I got most of that out of my system. Lots of smoooooooooth inputs, working more on the line but I was going probably around 70% just to get the line right and learn the balance of the car. I struggle a little with going into turns at the same speed since I've been spending too much time listening to the instructor as opposed to focusing on my braking and throttle. But I'll post a video a little later.
