I stole this from oregonmon at that other place but if/when I go custom buckets this is likely my choice...

I'm a sexy and sultry 5'11" 165...

What seat(s) I have/had: Sonic Motor VS3 (Replacing Elise seats with flipside mount. Autox car, wanted more support)
What rails I have/had: oem rails with VS3 brackets
What build it fits: 5'10" & 198lbs - very snug, good motivation to drop 20lbs
Seat height: About the same as oem with the seat cushion, ~1" lower without it. (I keep if or the street but remove it for Autox)
Price: $190 each plus shipping

Corbeau Forza Sport (FIA approved) with Corbeau sliders, Status Racing 6 point 3" cam lock harness (FIA approved). Seat is legit for what they cost. Suuuuper comfortable and the wings don't stick out bad enough to rub on the door cards. Can't beat an FIA seat for $350 ish
6'4", 160 lbs, size 34 waist and fit perfectly

So Aside from the shitty stock NB seats, I first bought some Corbeau Forza seats that fit like shit in an NB.

image

image

Then i upgraded to some Lotus Elise(non probax) seats that were perfection. But sadly after almost 2 years of ownership I sold them to fund other projects. They were uncomfortable as shit.

meow I have some defoamed NA seats. They get the job done and are comfy so I'm happy. I'll eventually pick up something better in the future.

Same. No companies make seats that have a narrow base but not aggressive side bolsters and no shoulder wings. Sucks...

My knees are right under the steering column but I have a NRG 2.8 quick release with a deep dish wheel to help free up some knee space so I can heel toe easier

It's a night and day difference! My seat sits a lot lower but I can go lower once I get the right PCI bracket from Henry (cough cough) and I feel more secure (obviously) with this seat compared to the oem seat. The quality on my Corbeau seat is amazing and I could go on a road trip and not complain about the seat starting to get annoying except for my harness where I have to run the submarine straps (dumb design on status' part). It's super comfortable and breathes good. I have to say the seat I got is the best bang for your buck.

I won't lie fia safe seat for that cheap I'm jelly... Eventually ill get a real bride seat.. Figure just get reps for meow, they also are comfy, and love that they hold me ever so close

Like you said I'm low, and I could go lower if I really wanted to

Can't complain, meow my seats aren't fia safe 'yet' but what classifies a seat being fia safe? I'm sure it's pretty simple

Yeah I was surprised on how cheap it was. The rep's aren't bad, I almost bought a set from my friends shop but he wanted $250 a seat for the Kevlar backed buckets I wanted and they weren't FIA certified. If I end up getting my car ready for SCCA or another event within the next 5 years I know I won't have to worry about getting an approved seat.

To be FIA certified, a product has to go through the organizations safety tests to ensure the product is safe enough for racing purposes. If you're not going to do a sanctioned event where it's required to run FIA cert products, its kinda overkill.

One day I'll get fia seats, but for meow I just wanted something that hugs my ass when I hit deep turns

U turns are also fun with buckets. . Nice feeling knowing I'm not going anywhere a friend of mine had to hold onto the outside of the car to stay planted

For racing of any kind obviously two hands are better than one. . Unless you've adapted to 1 hand racing of some kind

This is the 17" kirkey i had in the driver side until i got the 15" a week ago.

I think its quite comfy, but most other people hate it. It's a tight fit for most people
But im only 5'9" 165lbs. My only problem with the 15" seat is i need to make a new bracket. Sit to high with the cover on and my legs hit the steering wheel.

Previous setup.

Sparco Juniors on Sparco sliders mounted to Good-win-racing bases.

image

image

image

image

image

image

Sparcos fit the Miata great. Narrow squeeze for someone in the 30"-33" range, and tight shoulder / chest fitment. One downfall is that the seats are bottom mount... So, you loose a little bit of seating room.

Driver: 5'6"
Weight: 155lbs
Male

New setup: (soon I hope)

1985 Recaro carbon fiber goodness. Model remains unknown.

image

image

Have yet to purchase a Garagestar / planted sidemount solution for it as of yet.... any recommendations????

I think it's doable to DIY.

I think I'm going to end up turning the S2000 seats into side mounts to try and get them as low as possible.

Yeah, I don't drive the miata in the winter but the colder spring nights with the top down they are astonishingly awesome to have. I drove an nc2 with heated seats a few months ago and have been irking to do some sort of seat warmer thing for my miata. I bought a cheapo $20 seat warmer off amazon and was gonna put it in my NA seats but it just doesn't get hot enough to go through the cover. So next I'm gonna get the actual pad that gets hot and put it on the back of the aluminium kirkey. I'm figuring that the heat will dissipate through the metal and give like a whole seat warming type effect. You can get some warmers that heat up to an upwards of 140 degrees F. I may take some metallic insulation and put it on the back of the pad to help direct the heat exchange too.

I have no idea if this will work well and I may end up catching my car on fire. But o well.... lol :phillyb™:

Interestingly enough, I have had zero back problems since I havent driven stupidly modified vehicles (or any type for that matter) in four years.

On topic Bride Vios was the best I've ever sat in or instantly fell asleep in. There were a few good ebay knock offs floating around too, but honestly havent looked at seats in 5 years

I helped a heavier friend install a sparco speed into his nb last month. Surprisingly, I felt pretty comfortable in it. The wings didn't pinch me like the sprints, and the bottom was snug without crushing testicles between thighs. My only beef was trying to fit the seat with those bottom mounts.
